Sage HRMS Error When Importing and Exporting Excel Timesheets and Files
In the last week, we have seen more and more clients get an error when trying to import Excel timesheets or attempting to create Excel export files to other programs.

In the last week, we have seen more and more clients get an error when trying to import Excel timesheets or attempting to create Excel export files
to other programs.

This error is showing itself in both Sage products (accounting and HRMS).

The error (pictured below): “Unexpected error from external database driver” was caused by recent Windows Security updates.

Two possible resolutions have been found:

1.
When speaking with Sage, the solution they are able to provide us at this time is to roll back the recent security updates on the affected workstations.
There has not been an update from Sage regarding this item. Clients who have done this have seen the error resolve.

Microsoft has provided a workaround for the error by downloading and installing the Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable, and
then modify DB connection strings in Microsoft Excel to use ACE as a provider. (Example: Change Provider=Mocrosoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0 to Provider=Mocrosoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0)
