I just spent the last two days attending the annual conference for the Tulsa Chapter of Institute of Managerial Accountants.
They offered two days of CPE with great speakers. They kicked off the event with Cynthia Cooper as the keynote speaker. You may recognize her name. Cynthia played an instrumental role in the unraveling of fraud at WorldCom, one of the largest corporate fraud cases in history. Among the many awards she has received, Cynthia was named one of Time Magazine’s Persons of the Year and is an AICPA Hall of Fame inductee.
Cynthia is one of the best speakers I have heard in many years. Her discussion about ethics and the slippery slope of compromise that brought down WorldCom was completely engaging.
They also had Mr. Excel making a return trip to Tulsa this year. It has been several years since they had Bill Jelen join then and they continued to get requests each year to bring him back.
If you are an accountant and have never attended an IMA event, I highly recommend this organization.. Go to IMAto check out their next event.
