Just how DO you manage time?

Throughout my professional career, people have referred to time management as
a key behavior to ‘get ahead’ in business. I’ve always pondered this proposition.
Every day I rise from my bed and yet time has time has ticked along just fine without
any help from me. Time doesn’t appear to need me to remove any roadblocks from
its way. It doesn’t have challenges or issues where it needs my input. I don’t
have to check on its progress to ensure it is getting its job done. I don’t know
how to provide it educational opportunities to help its career growth. All this
to say, time needs no management from we mere humans. We all get 24 hours in a
day. How we manage the use of those hours is the better question. This means I
need to manage my priorities to get the most of those 24 hours. To replace what
I want now with what I want most. To define the most important things I need to
do, what order do I do them in, and how do I stay focused on those while avoiding
distractions? Without priorities, my life seems to fall into a never-ending game
of ‘Whack-a-Mole’. Just a thought while killing time, waiting for a flight home.
Now there’s something else to ponder. If time is constant, how is it killed?....
